Year 5 art links with Hookergate School
Art teacher, Mr Colin Turnbull has been visiting Year 5 for an on-going art project involving the works of JMW Turner. Turner, a world famous Victorian artist, travelled to the North East many times to capture its raw beauty in his paintings. One he showed us featured Gibside and its grounds. His work links us to our history studies.
We have been encouraged to work individually and in groups and to use a variety of different media, including oil pastels, graphite, water colour and poster paint. We have used the excellent views from the school and Turner`s techniques to inspire our art.
Homework
Mr Turnbull has asked Year 5 to collect as many examples of Turner`s work as possible to develop their art portfolios. If possible, please print at home and bring into school by Monday 24 November.
Good luck!
