We have had a fantastic day dressing up as a character from a book.

I was more than happy with the idea of celebratiing world book day and to encourage the children to dress up as book characters to encourage them to read, but i am horrified to find out that the character that won was 'Terminator'. Please supply me with the book, and i am sick of my son Louis asking me who Terminator is. It is an 18 rated adult film and I do not want my 5 year old child knowing anything about this type of film. I suggest the next time you organise this sort of event you instruct your staff as to the content of it and ensure that the person who chose this character is not asked to do it again. Your comments will be extremely welcome.
I can only agree with Mr/s Robinson with regard this. Whilst the costume may well have been of high quality it certainly should not of been a winner, and the child/parent should be told that this was not neccessarilty appropriate material for a Year 1/2 year group Book Day.
Whilst it is the responsibilty of the parent(s) to judge what is suitable for any child to depict, promotion of non age relevant material should not be encouraged within the school environment - and certainly not in Year 1/2.
