Light It Up!

1/ 2 T thoroughly enjoyed creating a circuit and making a bulb light up. We looked at a range of circuits and predicted whether the bulb would light up or not and suggested why. When we tested our circuits and were surprised at some of the results!

Parachute fun in Y6

Year 6 have been carrying out a parachute investigation. Pupils chose which variable they wanted to change eg area of parachute, mass on the parachute, number of ropes, shape of parachute etc and planned their investigation to see if this variable made any difference to the fall speed. We even took 3 readings for each fall of the chute- averaged them and drew a table and a bar chart or line graph.

Foundation Stage Chinese New Year Activities

This week in both the nursery and reception unit the children have been engaged in activities linked to Chinese New Year. This is the Year of the Tiger and the children have been making chinese dragons, copying Chinese writing,enjoying a stir fry meal and finding out how Chinese New Year is celebrated. As well as finding out about Chinese culture the children have had an opportunity to find how different cultures celebrate special times in their own particular way. The children have enjoyed this very much and you may like to follow this up as at the weekend there are a range of activities in Newcastle on Sunday14 th February 2010. Details can be found below. Kung Hey Fat Choy! You may think that new year has already been and gone - but on 14 February 2010 it's Chinese New Year. Here's a guide to what's happening in Newcastle on the day to welcome in the year of the tiger. Cenotaph Visit

Year's 1 and 2 enjoyed a visit to our local Cenotaph on the 11th November 2009. We walked along to the memorial site to remember those who fought and died in the war. We then used this visit to write a recount during literacy.
