World War 2 Historian Visit
Samuel Pepys
Last week Year 1/ 2 met Samuel Pepys, who gave us an eyewitness account of The Great Fire of London. This gave us an understanding of how and where the fire broke out and the correct sequence of events. Samuel also told us about his life and his job, giving us some insight into life in London at the time (1660's during the Restoration). ![]()
Some children were dressed up in costume of the period to represent a variety of characters and their place in the history of The Great Fire of Londom. We sang 'London's Burning' and had a merry Stuart dance.
Check out our photographs to see the fun that was had!

Anyone wishing to have them delivered should contact Tempest as follows:
- Call Tempest 01736 752411 (Office hours 8:30am - 4:00pm)
- Ask for 'Customer Service for Schools' and quote the School's account number 591252.
- Give them your child's name and class, and delivery address details. They will confirm that they have the photograph(s) and arrange for them to sent directly to you. Could you please contact their office after Monday 20th July.

Visit from Ali from the Newcastle Vipers
The children had a real treat today with a visit from Ali from the Newcastle Vipers Ice Hockey team. He came to see what the children knew about the importance of healthy living, exercise and education. I think he was blown away with the amazing answers to his questions from our children.
Dylan(from 6M) was chosen, due to his excellent improvement in attendance, to dress up like an ice hockey player. Ali also rewarded each child in the school with a ticket for the game on Wednesday the 14th of November, when they will be playing Edinbrough. We wish them all the luck in the world for the game.
Here are some pictures of the exciting visit.

Peter Beardsley and the Junior Magpies visit
Our school was fortunate enough to have a visit from Peter Beardsley, Rebecca and Michael who all work for Newcastle United Football Club. Peter had come to present the winner of the 100 percent attendance contest.
Rebecca and Michael work with young people who are part of the Junior Magpie Club. It gave Rowlands Gill Children the opportunity to ask questions about Peter's playing career. It was fascinating to learn how clubs Peter had played for besides Newcastle United. Our photograph shows Peter presenting the prize of three football tickets to the Newcastle v Portsmouth match. The lucky winner was Aidan from 6B, who was totally in awe of his prize and will probably remember this as one of the best memories of his primary school days.
We would like to thank Peter and his colleagues for being such inspiring role models and for reminding us how important attendance is to achieve your best and become a well-rounded successful pupil.

School Choir Visit SAGE
On Thursday 21st June, the school choir were lucky enough to sing at the SAGE Gateshead!!
They sung a variety of famous local songs including The Water of Tyne, The Keel Row, Cushie Butterfield and of course, Blaydon Races.
It was a great night and everyone enjoyed the peformances. It was made even more special by sitting on the stage itself behind the orchestra. The picture is from our point of view...scary!
Thanks to everyone who helped,
Mr Dempsey.
